Kate Simmons
Kate Simmons is a writer and teacher who enjoys celebrating the creative process on paper and in the classroom. Her love of literature and film inspired her to earn Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Communication, and her lifelong interest in education resulted in a Master of Arts in Teaching.
Kate previously wrote articles, educational activities and reviews of films, television programs and music for FamilyWonder.com. She has written lessons for educational software, as well as a science curriculum for young children.
She currently writes articles for whyzz, a website that answers kids' questions about life and learning. Her blog, Mirror80, explores 1980s fashion and interior design. Kate is also a creative writer, and her strong interest in short stories was first recognized when she won a Young Writer's Award in a statewide contest at age seventeen.
A teacher who has worked with students of all ages, Kate currently teaches Pre-Kindergarten and enjoys being in the classroom with her students. The honesty, curiosity and insight they possess constantly remind her that life can be full of wonder on a daily basis.
When she is not teaching, writing or engaged in an art project, Kate enjoys gardening, cooking, antiquing and watching movies.
